“… listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock my soul …”

… to sleep. I find myself once again using the memory of 2011 in the hope that an overwhelming weariness I have been feeling unburdens me for a restful sleep that I sometimes desperately feel the need of and there is no one who I can speak to of this desperation, but only to this memory where I felt a 30-year old mental weariness-burden lifting, really and surreally, and felt myself sinking deeply into one of the most consciously restful states I have ever known. I remember awakening with the voice of Jerry Garcia singing “… listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock my soul …” (I had left American Beauty playing waiting for Ripple to come on, but since this awakening the entire album has become beautiful to me, as if I finally was able to hear its words beyond Ripple and to those of Ripple even more deeply), hearing the birds on Sweet Gum singing, and my body feel restfully-heavy on the couch, and my mind empty, light, and feeling so deeply rested. I now long for such a sleep again …
